NEKTON, n: (From the Greek nektos: swimming) a word used by limnologists to differentiate those fresh water animals capable of swimming strongly against the water movement from plankton, which drifts with the current.
The Nekton is the Saskatoon Aquarium Societies official publication. It is released roughly twice a year and is distributed amongst our members. It contains breeding and horticulture records, club activity and many excellent articles written by our members.
